The fact of Qanon adherent Jim Caviezel kicking off his sermon as a guest speaker at World Outreach Church with “we are the storm” really might’ve been the least problematic thing of last evening. Turns out, while JC spoke of abortion and Hollywood and the annihilation of the father from the family and how he loves president no. 45, pastor Allen Jackson used that time to livestream something he calls a podcast, which I’m convinced is just a way to ahem “get more political” so his church can keep its tax-free status. It was about voting.
One important part was him focusing in on “a candidate for president of the United States of America who didn’t receive a vote.” So, Jackson is already instilling distrust of the next election. He spoke negatively of sanctuary cities. He decided to turn to the “clearly biblical issues” of abortion, gay marriage, and gender dysphoria. On abortion, he spreads the disinformation of “there is a significant portion of political people in this nation that believe you can secure power over the United States of America by promising women the privilege of killing their child at any point during pregnancy.” Caviezel also focused on this during his talk.
On gender - he makes the point that the healthcare industry sees a profitable opportunity concerning gender affirming care. I want to tangentalize here because show me where he’a spoken up about access to affordable healthcare. Show me where he speaks against life or death, predatory insurance or medical billing practices. People are dying because of the greed and inaction of the GOP with regard to the basic human right of access to healthcare. Anyway.
He twists up scripture in such a way to say “ the biblical view of borders and boundaries has been set aside…we are watching the intentional dismantling of our nation’s borders. That’s not a political issue. That’s a biblical issue grounded in authority and order.”
Might add more, but the fact that this white Christian nationalist church is also a polling place is a mockery of democracy. They want a theocracy.
**more: In a recent interview with TN based tactical-Christian-prepper Shawn Ryan, Caviezel uses a racial slur to describe his since-adopted son. Not surprising, just horrible.
Caviezel’s movie The Sound of Freedom played its own role in TN’s 2023 Special Session. The serious topic of human trafficking was used by the GOP to distract from the issue at hand & the number one killer of kids in the state of TN- guns.
